One of the most important habits of the successful in society is an ability to take action. There’s no shortage of people gaining knowledge, in fact, it’s what the majority of people are good at, but knowing a lot doesn’t equal achieving a lot. Knowledge unapplied is, for the most part, an unuseful resource. Success is a goal to move toward, moving is a doing word, and to do means to act! Action paves way for great things to come your way.
If you’ve already started taking action, you may find yourself running in circles and becoming disgruntled at your lack of progress, but have you taken time to define what that is? Have you considered answering the following questions:
- What's my outcome?
- What do I really want?
- What specific result am I committed to achieving?
- Why do I want it?
- What’s my purpose?
The truth is, if you don’t know where you’re going, how do you know how far you’ve come? Therefore taking action may in fact slow your progress. So, once you’re clear of your fears and perfectionism, you need to create a plan.
A plan or set of goals will guide your uncapped enthusiasm and have you following a course of action that is guided by your personal dreams, goals, and desires - the map to your success. Start off with your dreams. Create a vision board, brainstorm your wildest ambitions and write them down, or download the free KAC Wellness Pack for a more formal approach to goal-setting. No dreams were ever realised without first having an idea, so start making yours come alive by creating your map.
Action is the key ingredient that sets apart the achievers from the dreamers. Ideas are in no shortage, it’s those that have the courage to fight a fear of failure, overcome paralysing perfectionism, and have a clear idea of the outcome they direct their energy towards, that arrive at personal success and create revolutionary shifts in society. So, once you’ve figured out what to do, just get on with it!
